Speaking of eating… I remember that Gregory Nazianzen said, “with measured words I learn to bridle rage.” This really helped out one of his students who was sentenced to be thrown to the lions; although his anger at his treatment at first knew no bounds, he calmed himself, and was promptly disgorged.
