Thanks to a number of music-loving friends, and their friends as well, the mysterious music has been identified. It’s Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D. The mysterious theme I remembered was the entry of the full orchestra at measure 127 of the first movement.
Victory!!
I still have that one one vinyl in my collection, beautiful piece.
How did you end up identifying it?
Wow, you’ve been wanting to know what that piece was ever since I’ve known you!
A friend of ‘s, also a co-worker of ours, recognized it from my whistling.
Even longer than that. When I first started at Google, it had been stuck in my head for so long that I was seriously tempted to start a music search group just so I could find the damned piece. 🙂
Bravo!
